Building Synapses...
In laymans terms our course this Semester has been described as "Thinking about thinking".. Considering I am rarely able to "Speak before thinking" "Act before thinking" and worst of all "REACT before thinking" the concept has presented somewhat of a challenge!
How long do we go through life convinced that our beliefs, judgements and views are correct? After all, they are based on experience... we KNOW we know! We have seen, heard, experienced, learnt and aquired the 'truth!' Now suddenly we are being asked to confront those beliefs? Question those perceptions? and review everything we thought we knew about... well everything really!
I have found myself debating ideas and arguing perceptions that ironically determine the same conclusion as my fellow constituents. It seems remarkably possible that there is indeed more than one way to skin a cat.... or for like of a better term, investigate the causation of an incident; it is even remotely probable that there is more than one conclusion!
I am generally content to question everyone and everything around me in my persistant thirst for knowledge, it is however a new concept to question myself. It feels like I am systematically demolishing the very comfortable, if somewhat uneven, neural pathways in my mind, and replacing them with synapes leading to original and unique destinations. Whether these new roads will inevitably lead to the 'ANSWER' remains to be seen.
What I do know, is there are more than a few potholes lined with bad ideas and mountainous hills of pre-concieved self righteousness to navigate during construction.. so I may need a bigger shovel!
This might also explain the headaches.....
